About Me

I was inspired to start writing because I love cooking, tasting, and shopping for food, particularly in exotic locations, and enjoy reading same. So, instead of merely being a consumer of others’ musings, I will give back to the global community and share some of my own.

What you will find here: Musings on food, cooking, travel and feeding those around me.

A little about myself: I am a vegetarian who eats fish, aka pescatarian, but doesn’t that sound pretentious?  So I usually stick to describing myself simply as a vegetarian who eats fish. I mean, the word “pescatarian” doesn’t even pass muster from spell check. I have a carnivorous husband and an omnivorous 2 year old son, so my mind is often wandering and wondering about what the 3 of us will eat during our meals together.

Sam likes fruit: Eating a plum at the summit of Mt Sargeant in Acadia National Park

I live in New York City and am fortunate to spend weekends in Western Massachusetts in a region called the Berkshires.  Italian food, wine, and culture hold a special place in my heart as I lived there for nearly 5 years. I espouse eating local, real food, cooking slow, and traveling far and wide to explore foodie hang-outs. I keep endless lists of restaurants I want to try and places I want to visit. I will analyze and dissect a meal for longer than it takes to consume. I am interested in tasting and learning about new wine varietals.  I want to lead a more sustainable existence and reduce my family’s overall carbon footprint. You may wonder why I have a problem with the word pescatarian sounding pretentious?!

Hey Debra! What plug in do you use for WordPress to make your site mobile? I am starting to research this for oh lardy since our design guy has flown the coop!

    • Hi Tamara,
I use the WordPress App from the Itunes App Store to create mobile posts. Is that what you mean?

      • Tamara mannelly says:

Ok. There are plugins that make it so when you visit the site it detects mobile and makes the site mobile friendly. Just starting my research but apparently they are free or cheap and easy to install. Yours looks good on my phone so was curious!!

      • Got it. WordPress is a great platform. I don’t need a plug-in. It is already optimized for mobile. Make sense? Perhaps you could migrate your blog to WordPress. That’s not always easy, I know. Sorry to hear about your designer
